The Burlington Conservation District is located in Eastern Kit Carson County, bordering the Colorado/Kansas State line. The District contains approximately  1,383,956 acres. The Burlington Conservation District was formed in 1964 by consolidation of the Plainview and the Smoky Hill Districts.  Kit Carson County has proven to have extreme diversity in terrain and soil continent, in which has successfully supported agricultural in both farming and ranching communities.

                              Burlington Conservation District Mission Statement:

                              The Burlington Conservation District will assist cooperators in reducing soil erosion from wind

                         wind and water on cropland; promote water quality and conservation; encourage the continued planting of

                 trees for conservation; and promote conservation, education and public information.  The Board of Supervisors of the

                 Burlington Conservation District believe implementation of Conservation goals will be achieved more efficiently on

                                                        a local level with voluntary local cooperator management and control.
